I am always seeking to make my home smell fresh and lovely, without the fake smell of chemical scents. And since I have always enjoyed the smell of essential oils used at the end of a yoga class to promote relaxation and deep breathing.
After doing some research and testing different essential oils, I now make my own essential oil sprays that I use to scent my sinks, both kitchen and bathroom, after cleaned. Somehow sinks SING, when scented, and fill their surroundings with this scent. I specifically recommend Eucalyptus, if you go for minty scents.
Straight peppermint is too sweet/toothpaste smelling. On the fruity side, most citruses are great, Lemon, Orange, Grapefruit. And a good clean floral scent that is not too “powdery” like roses, is a good quality Lavender. Mix about 20 drops of the oil with a teaspoon of salt, to emulsify it, and then mix with water and place in a spray bottle. Glass is best. You can buy generic glass spray bottles online, on amazon. I get them by the dozen on amazon.com for an amazing price, and you get a wide choice of sizes.
Wash your hands in a scented sink bowl and… breathe deep!
